MORE ABOUT ME
AN ENGLISH LASS
MOVES ACROSS THE POND...
Hello, I’m Joan.
Thank you for stopping by. My own journey began in England where I was born and raised. In my early twenties I emigrated to Canada, and a few years later, to San Francisco, where I met my husband Leon. I thought I had died and gone to heaven arriving in that beautiful city!
Four children and several moves later, we landed in Little Rock, Arkansas, where I was active teaching and mentoring in my local church. It was during the years there that we discovered the New Testament Church that we had been seeking since our days in San Francisco. We spent a year attending liturgies, reading and being shepherded by our Priest, and were welcomed into that loving Orthodox community as a result.
During that time, as a result of my desire to be of greater help to the women I was mentoring, I began pursuing a college degree in Counseling. In order to complete the degree program it was necessary that I should be focused on my own healing and growth, which I did under the ministry of Dr. Dan Allender. Ultimately, the degree program that I wished to attend was in Denver, Colorado and therefore, that entailed another move.
Since that time, having graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling, and practicing in Denver for several years, I began my own Interior Design business. This may seem like a leap in a different direction, but I began to realise that in both cases I was most interested in the restoration of beauty and the healing of souls that beauty brings.
After the death of my husband, I began to ponder what I could do in my later years that would allow me to continue bringing my ministry and life experience into the Body of Christ; and using my gifts to offer a safe place to land when life feels overwhelming.
I began the 18 month journey towards completion of my training as a Christian Life Coach with the Professional Christian Coaching Institute. As a result of that, I was also invited to become a member of the Orthodox Coaching arm of the Orthodox Christian Leadership Initiative.
It is a privilege and a blessing to be entrusted with the real lives of real people, and to watch as with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they find their own answers to their questions, or their sometimes difficult circumstances.
I look forward to the opportunity to walk beside you on your own journey.
